This recipe will give you a little taste of Irish cuisine. Traditionally it’s served as part of a ‘full’ Irish breakfast with sausages, eggs and beans. You can also serve it with a dip, hummus or mayonnaise … Its probably the easiest recipe in the world!

Irish Potato Farls
Its probably the easiest recipe in the world!
Equipment
- Potatoe masher
Ingredients
- 700 g potatoes
- 1 tbsp vegan butter or ordinary butter if you are not on a vegan diet
- 4 tbsp all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- salt to taste
- oil for frying
Instructions
- Peel and chop the potatoes
- In a medium saucepan, boil potatoes until tender
- Once tender, remove the potatoes and place them in a bowl, let them cool down slightly
- Add 1 tablespoon of vegan or ordinary butter and using a potato masher, mash the potatoes
- Add flour, baking powder and salt to taste and stir it all together
- Separate the mashed potatoes into two equally sized round balls
- Flatten the dough into approximately 1cm thick round discs
- Cut each disc into 4 quarters
- Heat up oil in a frying pan and very carefully place the 4 quarters of potato discs to the frying pan, fry over a medium heat until golden brown, flip them gently over and fry on the other side until golden brown.
- Gently remove from the frying pan; once fried they will hold their shape
- Serve while still warm
